Gratavinum is the winery of the Cusiné family in the town of Gratallops in Priorat. They use garnacha negra, carignan, cabernet sauvignon, syrah and merlot grape varieties. In the wild and somewhat rugged landscape of the Priorat there is a dramatic struggle for survival of the vine. The result is a unique atmosphere that creates very special wines. That was what attracted the Cusiné Family, already the owners of the prestigious Pares Balta Winery and one of the traditional wine families in the region of Penedes. That was the magic that led them to start this project with the young winemaker Jordi Fernandez. The Gratavinum name is formed by the contraction of the name of the village where the winery is: Gratallops and Vinum wine in Latin, in honour of the Romans who introduced the cultivation of vines in the region many centuries ago. Today Gratavinum possesses 17 hectareas of vineyards, all of them growing vines organically.
